A Review Report On The Inclusion Properties Of Paeonol By Cyclodextrin Derivatives

news-364-364Paeonol is a natural medicinal ingredient, with good anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antioxidant, anti-platelet aggregation and many other biological activities, so it is widely used in Chinese herbal medicine and cosmetics. However, paeonol has poor hydrophobicity and stability, low bioavailability and efficacy, which limits its application in clinical therapy and cosmetics. Therefore, it is necessary to find a way to improve the bioavailability and stability of paeonol, so as to exert better efficacy and cosmetic effects. Cyclodextrin derivatives have been widely studied and used in the inclusion modification of paeonol, which is described in detail below.

Cyclodextrin is a cyclic glycan composed of 6-8 glucose molecules in which the glucose molecule loses an oxygen atom in the formation of the ring molecule, thus forming a hydrophobic cavity. This hydrophobic cavity is able to contain molecules of the appropriate size to form a stable derivative, thereby enhancing the water solubility and stability of the molecule. Because of its excellent properties, cyclodextrins and their derivatives are widely used in drug inclusion and loading, separation and purification, cosmetics and other fields. At the same time, the physical and chemical properties and excretion metabolism of cyclodextrin derivatives are safer, and will not cause toxicity and side effects to the human body.

The studies on inclusion of cyclodextrin derivatives with paeonol mainly include the following aspects

1. Cyclodextrin derivatives improve water solubility and stability of paeonol

Hydrophobicity is a limiting factor for paeonol applications, and hydrophobic cavities in cyclodextrin molecules can contain molecules into them, thus significantly improving the water solubility and stability of the molecules. The results show that paeonol clathrates with different stability and hydrophobicity can be formed by selecting different cyclodextrin derivatives, so as to achieve better clathration effect.

2. Cyclodextrin bioenhances the bioavailability of paeonol

Bioavailability is the degree to which a drug is absorbed, distributed, metabolized and excreted in the body, and is also an important index to measure the efficacy of a drug. Studies have shown that the bioavailability of paeonol can be significantly improved by improving the water solubility and stability of paeonol with cyclodextrin derivatives. In addition, the low toxicity and good biocompatibility of cyclodextrins are also very helpful for the application of drugs.

3. Cyclodextrin derivatives can improve the antioxidant and antibacterial activity of paeonol

Paeonol has antioxidant and antibacterial activities. It was found that paeonol had better antioxidant and antibacterial activity after bioinclusion of cyclodextrin. This is because cyclodextrin derivatives can protect the active groups in the molecule and enhance its biological activity, so that paeonol can better play its biological functions in organisms.

In summary, cyclodextrin derivatives have been widely used in the study of inclusion properties of paeonol. Through the inclusion of cyclodextrin derivatives, the water solubility and stability of paeonol can be significantly improved, and the bioavailability and bioactivity of paeonol can be enhanced, so as to play a better pharmacological and cosmetic effect. However, it is also necessary to further study the properties of cyclodextrin derivatives and the mechanism of paeonol inclusion, as well as to conduct a more comprehensive evaluation of its drug compatibility and safety.
